A Watchful Eye
One thing about growing up in a small town where your next door neighbors were your grandparents, you had 5 sets of great aunts and uncles within a few blocks and countless numbers of your mother’s cousins spread throughout the town; you really couldn’t get away with much. By the time I made it home my mother would already know what I had done. It also gave a child a sense of always having someone looking out for them.
Since I have the second article of Elsie from the Bangor Daily News now in digital format thanks to my sister Diana, I printed out the photo of her and my great aunt Gracie and have added it to the shelves over my printing area in my studio:
I actually picked a cool rainy day to cut up and wax the other printed out copy of the article. Seems I always manage to pick the hottest days to do this part. It was nice relaxing work this time around, with Elsie and Gracie smiling over my shoulder, looking out for me.
