It’s All in the Details
I added the border to Lib’s quilt and moved on to the slowest and most meditative part of the process, whip-stitching the edge of the border down by hand. I particularly enjoy this part of the process because it allows me the time to mentally sum up the whole piece as I literally sit with it for the days that it takes for me to complete this step.
It is also when I tend to notice little details in a piece like this:
I really like this little corner because of the convergence of the devilish look on the baby’s face and the handwritten calculations below (I believe that is my mother’s handwriting).
My top secret free motion project from a few weeks back finally got to see the light of day when my nephew Mitchell got married to his lovely fiancé Katelyn on Saturday. Had a wonderful weekend up in Veazie with the family celebrating the happy occasion.
I was going to make a simple little card by repurposing the wedding invitation but it got a bit away from me and turned into a full blown wall piece after I added in their Save the Date card and an adorable photo of the happy couple:
Nothing like having someone whose diapers you’ve changed get married to make you feel old…
