Being an artist isn’t all fun and play. There is a lot of drudge work to it. I spent this week working on rewriting my website. I spent a lot of the last year putting off rewriting my website because I really didn’t want to do this even though I knew it needed to be done. I worked in IT for over 25 years and it’s not that I didn’t love it but …. when I have free time I want to work on my art.
Having and maintaining a website is one of the things that an artist needs to do in addition to making art (there is also inventory and the maintaining of images and a bunch of other fun stuff). Back when I first built the site I used an easy template service that also hosted my domain. Now that I am familiar with WordPress from working on two separate blogs I thought it was time to convert the whole site over to WordPress and take over the hosting of the domain myself. So when the renewal came up at the end of the year I decided to switch over. OK, I reupped for a month to give myself an extra month around the holidays….
So you may notice that things look a little different. I was able to change the blog over now. The rest of the site is staged – that is the changes have been more or less made in the background but not published yet since the domain won’t revert over till the 31st – it’s kind of like repairing a plane while it’s in flight. I’m really curious to see how it will actually look when it lands…
