Hangman
So I’ve been trying to decide how to hang these things… For the photographs I’ve been using rare earth neodymium magnets (in part because I like saying neodymium). This is a great way to hang unframed prints; just stick some tacks in a wall, put the print up and place the magnets on the other side and you’re all set. Three of these little suckers will easily hold one of the encaustic collage, memorial quilts I’ve been making. The tacks have the added bonus of leaving smaller holes in your walls then nails. For the purposes photographing them this is perfect because it allows them to lie flat against the wall and my photographer Jay does a great job of getting the magnets out of the photographs in Photoshop.
For final display I’ve decided I want a more traditional ‘quilt like’ presentation option. I’ve been searching on-line and have reviewed several variations from wood to cast iron. Since they vary somewhat in size it was important that I find something that came in a variety of sizes. I also wanted something that would have the quilts come out from the wall a bit but not be too bulky. I finally settled on the “Hang it Dang it” which is adjustable in size.
Now I just have to go back and sew sleeves onto the backs of each of the quilts that I’ve made so far…
