Pineapple Express

Apr 1, 2016 | Posted by dawnalbemis@hotmail.com | crochet, crocheting, quilts | 0 comments |

My cousin JoAnne remembered that my great grandmother Grace was fond of making crocheted doilies and that she often used the pineapple pattern. I got it in my head that it would be nice to add a crocheted border around her quilt so I looked up various pineapple patterns and started experimenting. I found a great YouTube video by a woman operating under the name of Crochet Geek  that shows how to make individual pineapple medallions. I decided this would be the ideal approach since I could make a couple medallions each evening or whenever I had a spare moment. My plan is to sew the individual medallions onto the edges of the finished quilt with plain white thread and then sew them to each other.

Here I am working on my first one:

I had to start, stop and rewind the video repeatedly. I also transcribed the steps into my own version of crochet notation so I could refer back to it for making the future medallions.

And here is the finished product:

1 down, a ridiculous number yet to go…
