So you may have noticed that I haven’t posted a completed photo of the quilt that I made for my grandmother Halice. My normal process when I finish a piece is that I prop it up in my living room and stare at it for a while until I decide it’s finished. I either rework or decide it’s done then it goes off to my photographer Jay. With the quilts there is no propping to be done so I’ve been laying them out on my dining room table (long since turned into a sewing table).

Something seemed off with Halices’s quilt. Finally one day I realized that I had placed one of the squares sideways. I admit it, I briefly considered leaving it that way and pretending that I had done it on purpose. Yesterday I gave in and took it partially apart and reassembled it correctly. Today I’m up in Veazie with my mother as she recuperates from surgery and I brought it up with me to redo the hand sewing of the edges. She had asked to see some of the quilts so I brought all three of them up. Here they are side by side:

School Girls Puzzle (for Halice), Cake Stand (for Boo), Log Cabin (for Gracie)
