A Picture is Worth a Thousand Words
And a well shot picture is worth even more. I learned a while back that I am not a good photographer. Fortunately for me there is a great photographer who specializes in photographing artwork just a few blocks from me, Jay York. Jay does great work (sometimes I think he makes my work look better than it actually is), turns it around quickly and charges reasonable rates; frankly I’m spoiled.
I finally took Boo’s quilt over to Jay for him to shoot last week. Here is how it came out:
And a detail of some of my favorite buttons:
About those buttons; turns out I WAY underestimated how difficult it would be to sew buttons onto waxed paper. The ones on the outer edges weren’t so bad but getting into the middle to sew on the green and metal ones without bending the piece too much required performing a contortion act. It didn’t help that I kept changing my mind about which buttons I wanted to use, Boo collected a lot of beautiful buttons to choose from. At least I know I come by my pack-rat behavior honestly.
